2. Most patrons have a smart device they use to access content

Already one of the most rapidly-adopted technologies in human history, mobile smart devices will be nearly ubiquitous by 2025. Libraries respond by pushing content out to wherever users want it. Libraries provide technical support for smart devices. Where necessary libraries continue to provide hardware to help bridge the digital divide, but this isn’t a major service. General computer labs will be uncommon; instead hardware offerings are often geared towards specialized tasks like film editing or teleconferencing.
